2014 F-150 SVT Raptor Special Edition

The raw power and capability of a used Ford F-150 is no secret – it’s been known for decades. Built to handle your biggest jobs in the toughest worksites, the F-150 has long been one of the leading full-size trucks on the market. And for just over a decade, two amazing generations of F-150 – Generations 11 and 12 – have provided enough power and modern amenities to satisfy millions of consumers and set a precedent for what a full-size pickup can be.

But although there are plenty of things that set the F-150 apart from the rest of the midsize crowd, the minds at Ford recognized years ago that there was one major missing piece to the greater full-size picture – off-road capabilities. Thus, in 2009, Ford took their beloved F-150 twelfth generation and transformed it into a powerful off-roader ready to conquer the trail just as well as the worksite – and the Ford F-150 SVT Raptor was born.

Built to take on the toughest trails out there without sacrificing even an ounce of comfort, style or luxury, the 2010 Ford F-150 SVT Raptor is the ultimate in high-performance pickups, offering trail-rated handling and mountain-conquering power for all your favorite adventuring needs.

Powered by a 5.4-L, 310-horsepower engine mated to a six-speed automatic transmission, the SVT Raptor is certainly no slouch when it comes to pushing out serious power for uphill climbs. And while you’re likely to have zero traction problems with the 35-inch BFGoodrich All-Terrain tires, the 4.10:1 rear locking differential will give you all the evenly-distributed torque you’ll need.

Then again, sometimes power conquers all else – and for those drivers, the immensely popular 6.2-L V8 engine is just the upgrade. This pumped-up machine packs up to 411 horsepower and 434 ft-lbs of torque and would become the SVT Raptor’s sole standard engine for 2011 onward.

The SVT Raptor differs slightly from other F-150s in its composite hood and fenders, as well as its conspicuously absent blue Ford badge. Instead, the SVT Raptor features large-type lettering in the front grille, as well as a widened track that’s 7 inches wider than the regular F-150 making the 5.5-foot box unique among Ford pickups. Plus, the SVT Raptor features a suspension that’s 2-inches over a standard 4-wheel Supercrew and features new internal bypass shocks designed by Fox Racing Shox. Redesigned upper- and lower-A-arms, new leaf springs and shocks, and a wider, thicker-walled rear axle add to the SVT Raptor’s durability and unique style among other full-size trucks as well.

The SVT Raptor came loaded with everything you’ll need for those trips over the tough trails with premium off-road features, like a unique Off-Road mode that allows for more controlled and aggressive driving, even in low-traction and braking conditions. It’s also the first Ford to feature hill-descent control, and even allows the driver to switch off the Automatic Braking System, roll stability control, and traction control for total driver control behind the wheel. Not many other pickups let you do that – and the SVT Raptor does it best of all.

So if you’re ready for a truck that can both tow up to 8,000 lbs and ascend a slick, muddy hill with ease, there’s simply no better option than a used Ford F-150 SVT Raptor, one of the most impressive off-road ready trucks to ever hit the market. Keep your eye out and see what you can find – and make sure to keep an eye out for the Raptor.
